Sunrise after a long time

After a long long time I witnessed a sunrise. When I say "a long-long time" it means first time in my memory. This too had happened because I had one of very strict commitments. Even I was surprised by my determination. I used to undermine myself and assumed that I can't make to a real good morning. This sunrise was best I have seen, not because of its rareness to me but to the beautiful thought that entered in my mind. Let me explain with more details.
I woke up at around 6 ‘o'clock, I had an appointment at 7, so I got to rush. Getting off the bed I went directly to wash-basin (which is outside) to brush my teeth. I was roaming while brushing like a typical lazy just managing to not to fall. It was then I noticed source of life rising slowly above horizon far-far away. Just a few moments back, whole sky was lightened but the source still nowhere in existence. I thought what a neanderthal would have thought seeing this strange thing above his head. He must have concluded it to be some kind of god, or perhaps might not have paid any attention to it and continued with his food hunt. By this time whole sun was in the out with circumference touching the horizon. Suddenly a feeling of gladness ran through my nerves making me delighted. I felt like I am looking at some wonderful festival celebration.
I enquired to myself; what exactly am I looking at, which made me feel so. My conscious mind replied that its a star situated at just the right distance from earth to make life a possibility, isn't it well known, it remains in the sky for some 12 hours. Then I realized it was a celebration of hydrogen and helium atoms going around, for some thousands of centuries. Toothpaste froth in my mouth was drying and I decided to wash it. When I returned, sun was well above and had all its might. By now I was feeling very fresh, and ready to take up any challenge. I took a look at the watch and continued with daily rituals.

Dear Pallav,
It’s very nice to see you talking about the sunrise. There are many sunset points at many tourist destinations but there is no sunrise point. The reason is that the sunrise is always equally novel and energizing no matter where it’s viewed from. The unadulterated and complete purity of the moment is like a spiritual ablution to the witness.
Though I have seen many sunrises there are four of them that have carved a special niche in my memory. I remember them as the symbols of tenacity, exaltation, hope and divine natural beauty.
I saw the first one when I was running my first cross country. It was very early in the morning and I had run 8km out of the 13 km long rout. I was drenched in sweat and feeling exhausted. I was about to give up when I saw the sun rising behind the blue hills. It somehow distracted my attention from the pain towards the pleasing sight. I found myself smiling and felt a little more energy in my legs. I continued and made it in the 4th enclosure.
The second one was the most beautiful one I have ever seen. I was traveling from Hyderabad to Bangalore in an AN-32. We were over the city of Bangalore when it was about to dawn. There were still some stars in the purple sky. The serene, light blue expanses of the Bay of Bengal were decorated with the tinges orange at the horizon. Below us was the city which looked like a mine studded with bright diamonds and twinkling red and apricot gems. I was overwhelmed with exaltation on seeing that magnificent sight.
I saw the third one from a bridge near the Khadakwasla Lake near Pune. I and my friend went to the lake at about 2 in the night. We were meeting after a long time and so had a lot to talk about. We strolled barefooted in the soft sand, counted stars and searched the figure of a deer in the almost full moon. At about 4 we felt sleepy but decided to stay till dawn. The sun, that day, looked like a herald of hope and the bringer of prosperity.
The fourth one was when I went to Duke’s nose, a 1200 ft straight rock wall near Lonawala, for rock climbing. From the base camp sitting at the edge of the cliff, I could see the huge dark valley in front of me. At dawn, the sun started rising behind me and that started a spectacular display of shades and colors in the valley. The whole valley slowly turned gray. The tips if the mountains started glowing with a silver tinge. The glow gradually spread downwards turning the valley light blue with a hints milky fog here and there. Then it started turning brighter as if there was a light bulb controlled by a dimmer. Slowly the valley started looking colorful with green trees, black and brown rocks and a blue river. When it stopped the valley was awash with colors.
Surely sunrise is the most beautiful thing we can give ourselves to make our day bright. All we have to do is give up a little bit of sleep in the morning.

Cheers,
Unmesh
